Home (Ailey Chicago Premiere)
The bold hip-hop choreographer, Rennie Harris, returns to the Ailey company to create a new work set to a soul-lifting score of gospel house music and inspired by the stories of people living with or affected by HIV.
“In Home, we're getting to learn a great deal about different styles of house dancing. The challenge in this piece is to give full value to the steps while conveying a message of spirituality, taking the audience on an emotional journey. Mr. Harris is really clear about giving us the correct way to do the movement. As artists, we have to leave what we've done in Arden Court and really get down into the groove of what he's asking of us. This is what keeps me inspired.”
