Chicago Jazz Philharmonic: From Ella to Mandela Thurs, March 11Pre-show party at 6 pm. Show at 7:30 pm.
It's time for you to decide whether legendary jazz trumpeter Orbert Davis and his Chicago Jazz Philharmonic play classical or jazz music. This 57-piece orchestra will celebrate the African and American spirit by featuring some of Chicago's most celebrated jazz vocalists - Dee Alexander, Terisa Griffin, and Maggie Brown and paying tribute to the legacies of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and Billie Holiday. The second half of the program, Hope in Action is Davis' tribute to Nelson Mandela. This work seamlessly weaves jazz, classical and South African inspired melodies, interspersed with moments of inspirational oration taken from Mandela's speeches.

If you haven't seen Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, it's time to discover why audiences keep returning year after year to experience one of America's hippest contemporary dance companies.
AAADT inspires many different types of people. You'll discover why Jasmine (a ballerina studying at the School of Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati) said she dreams of performing with the Company on MTV's Taking The Stage. Even President Obama and his family attended a sold out performance at the Kennedy Center last year.
