Orbert Davis' Chicago Jazz Philharmonic was previewed by Howard Reich in the Chicago Tribune! Check out From Ella to Mandela: The Legacy of the African and American Spirit, on March 11 at 7:30 pm. In the first half of the program, some of Chicago's most celebrated jazz vocalists Dee Alexander, Terisa Griffin, and Maggie Brown will pay tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Billie Holiday. In the second half, the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic will perform Hope in Action, composed in honor of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday celebration.
